What the service involves
Where the carpet and equipment are suitable, hot-water extraction can be used: a controlled cleaning solution and water are applied to the pile and recovered with extraction equipment. The method is not identical for every carpet.
Wool, delicate fibres, loose joins, aged backing, rugs and water-sensitive materials require an assessment and may need a different recommendation or may be declined.
Stains, odours and realistic results
Visible spots can be assessed and pre-treated where appropriate, but results vary. Bleach marks, dye transfer, rust, permanent marker, chemical damage, worn pile and stains that have affected the fibre may remain.
Odour can also be present in underlay or subflooring and may not be resolved by surface cleaning alone. Do not apply a household chemical before the appointment without disclosing it.
Before and after the clean
Remove small items, identify fragile furniture and provide clear access to the carpet. Drying varies with fibre, moisture level, ventilation, humidity, temperature and room airflow, so no fixed drying time should be assumed.
